Google Calculator update brings an option to view calculation history

If you’re using Google’s stock calculator app for one reason or another, you’ll be glad to hear that the much-needed option to view your calculation history is finally here!

I stopped using Google’s calculator app some time ago because although it’s nice and simple, I couldn’t see my previous calculations. As trivial as that may sound, it can actually be quite inconvenient when you are doing a chain of calculations, and say you make a mistake along the way and need to go back a few steps.

Well, it seems like with version 7.2, Google is finally bringing that feature to its calculator app. You can now tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner of the app and select “History” to access your previous calculations. Not unlike some third-party calculator apps, you can also simple drag the calculator pad down to see your history. If you want to clear your calculation history, click the menu icon again and then select “Clear”: there will be a pop-up message confirming your action.

You can now tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner of the app and select “History” to access your previous calculations.
Though I’m glad Google has at last brought this feature with the latest update, I still somewhat prefer Samsung’s approach where nothing is hidden under the menu. The “History” button is right there on top of the number pad, and selecting it brings a sliding window that shows all your calculations with an option to clear at the bottom. It’s more intuitive, at least in my opinion.

If you want to try out Google’s calculator app with the new feature, you can download the APK and sideload it yourself since it looks like the update is not yet available in the Play Store.

Latest Google Calculator update introduces calculation history

When it comes to calculator applications, they’re almost all more or less the same. They can add, subtract, and possibly even get fancy and work out some logarithmic equations. The latest version of Google’s Calculator app is adding a long-awaited feature, though, and that’s calculation history…

Once you update the app, you can find the history panel by tapping on the menu icon in the upper right side of the screen and then selecting “History”. This will show a list of every calculation that you have inputted into the app. You can also jump directly into the History panel by dragging down anywhere within the white calculation field. Please note, however, that history will only begin to populate after you have updated to version 7.2.

If for whatever reason you want to delete your calculation history, you can do so by going into the History panel. From here, tap on the menu button in the upper right side of the display again and select Clear. A pop-up will confirm that you want to clear the history and memory. Tap on Clear and you will be taken back to the Calculator’s main interface.

If the update hasn’t shown up for you yet in the Google Play Store, you can download the APK at APKMirror and sideload it manually.

Google updates Calculator to v7.2, adds calculation history [APK Download]

The computer in your pocket can do amazing things like play HD videos, access all the knowledge of mankind, and send messages all over the world. It can also do math with a calculator app. Google's Calculator app has been updated to v7.2, and it includes a long, long, loooooooooong overdue feature—history.

There does not appear to be a lot that's new here, at least compared to the last 7.1.1 release. History is accessible by dragging down the display at the top. It offers a scrollable list of past calculations with the newest at the bottom. The digits in the main display also seem to have changed from gray to black in this version.

If you haven't used the Google Calculator app for a while, there might be things that are new to you. History and the slight UI tweak appear to be all the legitimately new stuff for now. If we spot anything else, we'll update. As usual, you can grab the new version right now from APK Mirror if you don't want to wait for it to make its way to you via the Play Store.
