Student jailed for murdering his girlfriend during rough Valentine’s Day SEX session
A UNIVERSITY student has been jailed for 25 years for killing his girlfriend during a rough Valentine’s Day sex session.
Chico Fierro, 26, of Texas, pleaded guilty to the murder of his waitress girlfriend, Karyna Rodriguez on Valentine’s Day in 2015.
A court was told he often liked to use objects with his girlfriend during sex and it is believed that she bled to death after suffering massive internal bleeding.
Ms Rodriguez was found dead inside an apartment at the Celina Apartments in east El Paso the day after, The El Paso Times reported.
Cops said the blood-soaked scene of the death was shocking.
Fierro, who studied at the University of Texas and worked as a personal trainer, told police that he and Ms Rodriguez had spent the night drinking and after they had engaged in “rough sex”, he fell asleep.
Fierro said when he woke up the next day at noon, he found the victim unresponsive, bleeding next to him.

The personal trainer told police in El Paso, Texas, that he and his girlfriend had spent the night drinking before having "rough sex" and falling asleep.
Fierro's ex-girlfriends told cops he liked to vigorously insert objects into his partners during sex, describing some of the same sex acts he is said to have engaged with with Rodriguez before she died.
Her body was found in a flat just after noon on February 15, 2015.
An autopsy found Rodriguez bled to death from severe internal injuries said to have taking place place during sex.
El Paso County medical examiner Dr. Juan Contín told 384th District Court that Rodriguez was probably still alive when she was fatally injured but was likely to have been unconscious based on the volume of blood loss.
Murder detectives found photos of Fierro's phone showing Rodriguez, a student at New Mexico State University, lying unconscious on a mattress with blood surrounding her body, the El Paso Times reported .
His lawyer Thomas D. Carter IV claimed Fierro and Rodriguez were "in love" and had engaged in consensual rough sex after going out drinking to celebrate Valentine's Day.
Fierro, a kinesiology student at the University of Texas at El Paso who also worked as a personal trainer, admitted murder last week.
A charge of aggravated assault with a weapon was dismissed.
He was jailed by Judge Patrick M. Garcia.
Composite image released in 2007 Valentine’s Day murder
CARLSBAD, Calif. — A composite image created using DNA evidence linked to the murder of a 39-year-old mentally disabled woman in a Carlsbad condominium a decade ago was released Tuesday in a renewed effort to find her killer.
A website dedicated to solving the cold case homicide of Jodine Elizabeth Serrin has also been launched. Serrin was found dead in the bedroom of her home in the 1900 block of Swallow Lane on Feb. 14, 2007.
Serrin’s parents had gone to check on her that day after not being able to reach her by phone, and her father unknowingly interrupted the suspect engaging in an act of necrophilia with the body. He told the man to leave, then discovered his daughter was dead, according to the recently launched website, jodineserrin.net. She had been raped, beaten and strangled hours before she was found.
“It’s incomprehensible to me that the individual was still there after a murderous act. I didn’t know that when I walked in — thought it was a boyfriend,” said Arthur Serrin, Jodine’s father.
There were no signs of forced entry, which could indicate the victim knew her attacker, according to the website.
Investigators collected the suspect’s DNA from the crime scene and turned it over to the sheriff’s department’s forensic lab. Although authorities had a genetic profile, the suspect’s DNA did not match any known offenders in a national database called CODIS.
Carlsbad police and personnel from the county District Attorney’s Office recently sought help from Parabon NanoLabs, a Virginia-based DNA technology company, which was able to speculate about the suspect’s appearance and ancestry using DNA.
“When these new technological pieces come along and enable us to keep moving along with the case once we’ve exhausted all the leads – that’s a phenomenal thing,” said Carlsbad Police Chief Neil Gallucci.
Parabon used its Snapshot DNA Phenotyping Service to determine the suspect’s eye color, hair color, skin color, freckling and face shape and constructed a composite image of what the suspect may have looked like in 2007. That was then combined with an estimated age and body-mass index based on witness statements, according to police and Crime Stoppers. However, the suspect in Serrin’s slaying remains at large.
“Something like this, you start reliving that night. It’s been hard on the whole family,” said Lois Serrin, Jodine’s mother.
Anyone with information on the case was asked to call the Carlsbad Police Department’s Cold Case Team at 760-931-2225 or leave a confidential tip via jodineserrin.net. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
“We feel somehow, somewhere – he’s out there. Somebody knows something – whatever that might be, that’ll help,” said Jodine’s father.
