The king of chickens, a Brahma, sets off new Internet frenzy
The latest video to set the Internet clucking - a giant rooster of the Brahma breed.
The massive chicken with impressive white plumage and black tail feathers steps out of a chicken coop and struts around a yard authoritatively in a Facebook video that has gone viral.
It was first posted on March 17 on a Facebook page for chicken enthusiasts called Shpeztaria Dekorative by Facebook user Fitim Sejfijaj.
Reposted on The Press of World Facebook page on Sunday, the 1min video reached more than 72 million views by Monday afternoon, and about two million Facebook users have shared it.
A few netizens suggested that the chicken was a "man in a suit" and others asked if the video was an optical illusion.
It's not clear how big or tall the chicken in the video is.
While their name is Indian in origin, Brahma chickens are most likely descended from the Chinese Shanghai which also have feathered feet, according to poultrykeeper.com.
These were imported to the United States in the 1840s, and the Brahma was recognised as a breed by the American Poultry Association since 1874.
A rooster can weigh more than 5kg, and a hen more than 4kg on average, although there have been records of Brahmas reaching 8kg.
One Brahma bird in Essex,Britain, that was was vying for the title of world's tallest cockerel, stood at 26 inches or 66cm, and was not yet full height, reports said.
They are said to be "gentle giants" and called "the king of chickens".
The Brahma is not the only large chicken breed around, others include the Jersey Giant, Cochin and Cornish Game.
Please look at this terrifyingly enormous chicken
LOOK AT THIS ENORMOUS CHICKEN. I’M TERRIFIED.
It’s unfolding itself out of its door. It is walking around the yard like a human. It’s standing by a tree, maybe marking its territory? Like a dog.
There’s another, smaller chicken in the yard and it seems the two almost get into a faceoff. Obviously, the little guy backs down.
This beast is a Brahma chicken, which used to be used for meat production in the U.S. They’re known for getting extremely large.
This chicken is definitely named Brutus.
This chicken will beat up your dog if it looks at it the wrong way.
This chicken might even steal your girlfriend, and you would let it.
This chicken could definitely play sports. I think it may go in the first or second round of the NFL draft as a defensive lineman.
I think we should hope it does play football, it’ll give it something to do and keep it from stalking around the yard like that, scaring other chickens and people alike.
Besides, it could be a valuable asset to some team next year.
The chicken so big one of its drumsticks could feed a family of four
We don't want to alarm you, but this is the biggest damn chicken you'll ever see in your life.
Look, we're the first to admit that there's a lot of over-exaggeration on the internet these days.
But this is one big bloody chook.
Footage of this mammoth bird is going viral, freaking out just about everybody after it was posted on Reddit.
"Is that not a man in a suit?" Redditor DannyAndHisDinosaur said.
"Clearly an episode of Sesame Street," mook_uk said.
We can only imagine how terrifying it would be chased by this beast, and are pretty sure it will feature in our line-up of nightmares tonight.
This feathered monstrosity belongs to knitwear-clad smooth unit Fitim Sejfijaj, and when you consider the size of that bloody chook this is an entirely appropriate Facebook display picture.
He looks like the Neville Longbottom of the chicken world, but at the end of the Harry Potter series when everyone finally catches on to what a complete bad-arse he is.
Sejfijaj posted video of this whopping fowl to the public group Shpeztaria Dekorative, which looks to be dedicated to all things poultry.
It has more than 2300 members and they seem to really, really love their chickens.
But this big bopper, whose name is believed to be Merakli, is the king of the Facebook chicken coop.
It's a knickers-soiling example of the brahma, a breed of chicken that is apparently quite placid and is famed for it's "huggability" – which is comforting because Merakli could probably kill you and your whole family if in a foul mood.
Apparently, brahmas can get to around a metre tall are known for to weigh in at more than 4.5kg.
Unfortunately this dog-sized chicken isn't for sale, so you can forget about turning it into a Kentucky-fried drumstick to feed a family of four (with enough leftovers to make sandwiches for lunch the next day).
Just think about how many nuggets you could get out of this beast!
