UCLA is bringing the Flying Death Machine to college basketball
No team considered a serious contender for the national championship has experienced a turnaround as dramatic as the UCLA Bruins. A year ago, UCLA missed the NCAA tournament at 15-17. This season, the Bruins are a national powerhouse, in large part because of freshman point guard Lonzo Ball.

The Miami Heat earned a nickname during the LeBron James and Dwyane Wade years: the “Flying Death Machine.” The Heat were amazing in transition and when they got out on the break, you had no chance of stopping them.
This UCLA team is basically the college basketball equivalent of that. LeBron would be proud.
Bruins basketball is a thing of beauty when it’s working like this. Let’s see how far they can go.
2017 NCAA Tournament: Kent State Golden Flashes at UCLA Bruins Game Thread
It's been a long week and Bruin fans have waited a long time for UCLA to finally get on the court in the very last tip-off of the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
Ike Anigbogu is out of tonight's game with a sprained left foot, according to a tweet from Ben Bolch of the LA Times.
The Golden Flashes finished the regular season at 22-13. They finished fourth in the Mid-American Conference East Division behind Akron, Ohio, and Buffalo. But Kent State is the 2017 Mid-American Conference champ after defeating rival Akron in the MAC Tournament Championship game. The Golden Flashes are 9-1 in their last ten games with the lone loss coming at home against Akron in their regular season finale.

Well, we’re through the first round and we still don’t have a truly unexpected upset on the board. Kent State hung with UCLA into the second half and Northern Kentucky put its best foot forward vs. Kentucky, but in the en the seeds held, which sets us up for a monster second round and Sweet 16 with all the major players still in play.
