Winter storm: School closings, delays and cancelations in Northern Virginia
As snow began falling Monday evening in Northern Virginia, school divisions were beginning to make announcements regarding Tuesday schedules.
Prince William County Schools: March 14, 2017, All PWCS schools closed Code Red. Inclement weather in certain areas. SACC closed. See pwcs.edu. Telework subject to policy.
Loudoun County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, because of the forecast for a major snow storm. All activities using Loudoun County schools are canceled. Administrative offices will be closed. Tuesday’s School Board meeting is postponed.
Previously announced changes to Monday evening programs.
Fairfax County Public Schools: Due to Winter Storm Warning, FCPS facilities and school grounds will be closed starting at 6:15 p.m. today, March 13, 2017. (Condition 7). All activities scheduled in Fairfax County public schools or on school grounds for this evening must be completed by 6:15 p.m. or are canceled, including:
• extracurricular activities
• interscholastic contests
• team practices
• field trips
• middle school after-school programs
• professional learning and training courses
• adult and community education classes
• recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS
SACC centers will remain open until 6:15 p.m. SACC Administration requests parents make every effort to pick up children earlier, if possible.
Prince William County Public Schools: For tonight, March 13, 2017, -- All Prince William County Public Schools after-school and evening activities including night school, GED, and adult education classes, are cancelled after 6:30 p.m. due to expected inclement weather. The SACC program will close at its normal time.
Stafford County Public Schools: All evening activities are canceled after 6 p.m. today, Monday, March 13, 2017 due to the potential inclement weather predicted to hit the Stafford County area. All buses must return to their base schools by 6 p.m.
Alexandria City Public Schools: Due to the anticipated start time of the approaching winter storm this evening, all after-school activities and practices will end at 6 p.m. tonight. Games that are anticipated to run later than 6 p.m. are canceled. Campagna and Rec after-school programs will end at 6 p.m. as usual. More info.
Northern Virginia Community College: The College is closing at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 13 and will be closed all day on Tuesday, March 14 due to winter weather conditions. On-campus day and evening classes and activities are cancelled. Please refresh your browser for the latest update.
