All of the Nintendo Direct April News and Games

Today's Nintendo Direct presentation will primarily focused on the upcoming titles Splatoon and Arms, and here's a breakdown of all the biggest announcements.

12 NINTENDO SWITCH GAMES SHOWN OFF DURING TODAY'S NINTENDO DIRECT

During a Nintendo Direct today, Nintendo showed off a handful of new titles coming to Nintendo Switch this year.

Aside from big names like Minecraft and a release date for ARMS, and new amiibo and a release date for Splatoon 2, here are a few of the other Switch games you’ll be able to play in 2017.

Project Mekuru
Project Mekuru made a very brief appearance in the sizzle reel shown off at the Switch reveal event back in January, but very little information has been available since then.

Today, Nintendo confirmed that Project Mekuru is coming to Switch this summer, and showed off a bit of four-player battle mode gameplay including taking over territory on a board by ground-pounding to match tiles to the color of your character.

We don’t know much else yet, but back in February Nintendo told us Mekuru comes from developer Over Fence and will include Mii support.

Disgaea 5 Complete
As NIS previously confirmed, Disgaea 5 Complete will be available on Nintendo Switch on May 23.

Disgaea 5 Complete was announced for Switch back at the console’s reveal event in January, and offers "8 bonus scenarios, 4 fan-favorite characters and 3 character classes” in addition to the main Disgaea 5 campaign.

Payday 2
During today’s Direct, Payday 2 was announced for Nintendo Switch and is due to be released later this year.

Payday 2 first launched back in 2013 and has received constant support, with DLC ranging from John Wick to Hotline Miami to Goat Simulator.

While we don’t have specific details about this version and the additional content it will include, it’s a safe bet that we’ll see some of the improvements that have come to the other versions over the years make their way onto the Switch.

Sonic Forces
One of the first games ever to be revealed for Switch (codenamed NX at the time), Sonic Forces is due out on Switch and other platforms in holiday 2017.

Like Sonic Generations before it, Sonic Forces features two versions of Sonic – classic and modern – teaming up to take down an evil threat, with gameplay changes centered around each version of the character.

Fate/Extella
Nintendo confirmed today that Fate/Extella is coming to Nintendo Switch and will be released on July 25, 2017.

Fate/Extella is an action game that sees players fighting against large waves of enemies, similar to combat in Dynasty Warriors-style Musou games. A version of Fate/Extella called The Umbral Star came to PS4 and Vita earlier this year.

Puyo Puyo Tetris
We’ve known for a while that Puyo Puyo Tetris is due out on Switch later this month, but Nintendo has now announced that you can try out a demo on the eShop beginning today.

Puyo Puyo Tetris was confirmed for Switch during Nintendo’s reveal event in January. The game is a crossover of famous SEGA puzzle series Puyo Puyo along with puzzle classic Tetris and incorporates elements of both series through multiple different gameplay modes.

Monopoly
Today, Nintendo showed off a new version of Monopoly headed to Nintendo Switch this Fall.

A quick demo showed off using the Joy-Con’s HD rumble for rolling the DICE, plus a few other standard Monopoly features, but no info on the release date just yet.

This particular version of Monopoly comes via publisher Ubisoft.

Sonic Mania
As SEGA announced last month, Nintendo confirmed again today that Sonic Mania is due out in Summer of this year.

If the 3D Sonic in Sonic Forces isn’t your speed, Sonic Mania offers a more traditional 2D approach, with remixed levels from classic Sonic games as well as brand new ones. It was confirmed for Switch back in January, following its original announcement at Comic-Con last year.

Sine Mora EX
THQ Nordic has announced that Grasshopper Manufacture’s gorgeous bullet hell shooter Sine Mora is coming to Switch this summer.

Sine Mora came out way back in 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Vita, and this new EX version with new modes, challenge levels, and more was announced last month at PAX East.

Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition
Nintendo reiterated today that Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition is due out in 2017 for Switch.

Announced back at Nintendo’s Switch reveal event in January, teasing some “new surprises” including additions to multiplayer and more.

Rayman Legends first launched back in 2013, and you can find our full thoughts in our Rayman Legends review.

Battlechasers: Nightwar
THQ Nordic announced today that Battle Chasers: Nightwar will launch first on Nintendo Switch.

Battlechasers: Nightwar is a role-playing game based on Darksiders artist Joe Madureira’s classic comic and was originally announced back in 2015 as part of a Kickstarter campaign.

Battlechasters: Nightwar is due out on Switch this summer.

Namco Museum
Nintendo confirmed today that classic arcade collection Namco Museum is headed to the eShop on Switch this summer.
