9 Wonderful Christmas Gifts

1. Mother Accused of Spoiling Her Kids with Mountain of Christmas Presents Buys Even More This Year

Emma Tapping, a mother-of-three from the Isle of Man, U.K, first made headlines last year, when she was accused of spoiling her children by getting them 87 Christmas presents each. That didn’t seem to bother her too much, as this year she bought even more gifts for them – 96 each.

After Emma posted a picture of her Christmas Tree buried in a mountain of presents, last year, it went viral and made the rounds online with the caption “Nearly time for all the materialistic parents to compete and broadcast how many presents their kids have on Facebook! Just remember there’s some children’ who don’t get much.” After being approached by various news sites and TV shows about her Christmas shopping habit and the effect it has on her kids, the woman said that she only spoils them on Christmas, because she loves seeing the joy on their faces when they’re opening presents.

“If you ask me if I spoil my kids, I say at Christmas yes I do but I don’t throughout the year. They get the necessities, the school uniform, the things they need but we don’t go on holidays abroad or big shopping sprees,” she said. “Anything they want, they get for Christmas.”

Last year, Tapping was even accused of “abusing” her children by showering them with so many Christmas presents, but that hasn’t stopped her from buying even more for them this year. “When it first happened I felt like I had to stick up for the kids and say they are not spoilt. I felt I had to justify what I was doing, but now I couldn’t give a toss what anyone thinks,” she told Channel 5. “I will put a picture of my Christmas tree up this year, if you don’t like it scroll on and it is a good job I am not your mum.”

Emma, who runs a holiday cottage, started buying this year’s Christmas presents for her kids in July, and by the end of November she had already finished packaging everything. She has banned herself from going shopping until after Christmas because she is always ‘tempted to buy more’. This way she’ll have to stop at a whopping 96-presents per child. “This year they have a few more bits – 96 presents each. I am proud of this year’s pile!”

As you can imagine, the kids – teenager Mia, nine-year-old Ella and toddler son Tatum – love her mother’s Christmas present obsession. “I love getting the amount of presents we do, who wouldn’t?”, Mia said. “I wouldn’t say we are spoilt. “Everything we might of got throughout the year we get on one day. I love it.”

With all the bargains and discounts she got last year, Emma Tapping still managed to spend over £1,500 on Christmas presents, and probably even more than that for this year’s Holidays. But she and the kids admit that some of the presents from last Christmas have gone unused after being unwrapped. “I couldn’t be bothered putting it all away. Some of it got boxed on top of my wardrobe as there wasn’t room for it,” Mia said.

2.  This Amazing Son Handed His Parents a Plain Envelope on Christmas and Changed Their Lives

Yesterday after all the other Christmas gifts had been handed out and opened, Joe Riquelme and his parents sat back to relax and enjoy the rest of the holiday.

At least, that’s what mom and dad figured. But Joe had one more present to give.

He pulled a folded, unmarked envelope from his pocket and handed it to his mom.
As he says…

“Sometimes the best gifts come in the lamest packages.”

She opened it up and pulled out what appeared to be a bill.

But it had a note attached to it.

And then it hit them…

3. This Guy's Brother Trolled Him Perfectly With His Christmas Gift

Trolling family members with fake Christmas presents can be fun, as long as feelings aren't hurt and the victim of the prank actually gets a present in the end.

But Christmas gift trolls should bow down to the master, Imgur user Lictalon's brother James, because James has turned gift trolling into an artform.

First Lictalon was presented with an obviously guitar-shaped gift, which he found odd since he's "the least musically talented dude on Earth".

But as he tore into the gift he found something too good to be true inside:

Knowing that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild wasn't set to come out until some time in 2017 Lictalon said "confusion set in...nah...can't be", and then he took the bait anyway.

ROCK ISLAND — A Rock Island woman's holiday gift turned out to be a $25,000 winner.

Mechelle Woolison, 45, said she received Iowa Lottery scratch tickets as a holiday gift. One of them, a $2 "Holiday Season Bingo" ticket, ended up winning the third of the game's seven $25,000 prizes.

“I checked the numbers like three times,” Ms. Woolison told lottery employees as she claimed her prize Tuesday at the lottery’s regional office in Cedar Rapids. “Then I asked my partner to check it and she checked it like three times.”

Ms. Woolison said she’s an occasional lottery player and was still in disbelief when she claimed her prize from the lottery.

“It’s not going to be real until I get the money in my hand,” she said.

She said she plans to use her lottery winnings to help pay for a kitchen remodeling project as well as some bills.

The winning ticket was sold at Sara Mini Mart, 1026 W. River Drive, Davenport.

5. UPS delivers assault rifle instead of toy for Christmas gift

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (AP) — A New York couple was horrified when a UPS delivery that they thought was a Christmas present turned out to be an assault rifle.

Newsday reports that Joel Berman opened the keyboard-sized case in front of his wife and 6-year-old granddaughter Wednesday night in Oceanside, on Long Island.

Instead of a toy plane they were buying for their friend's son, they found a semi-automatic rifle, scope, stand, ammo clip and copies of an Arizona man's driver's license and concealed-weapons permit.

They hustled their granddaughter out of the room and called police, who picked up the weapon.

Atlanta-based UPS says it's investigating the "highly unusual incident." The company says it accepts legal shipments of some firearms. It says shippers must meet certain requirements.

6. Overly excited man attacked by cat while opening Christmas gift

MACON, Ga. (UPI) -- A Georgia man's outburst of Christmas joy quickly turned to pain as a pet cat scratched his face and neck as he opened his gift.

Jessica Freeman shared video on Christmas Eve of a man frantically opening up a gift containing a Playstation 4 and raising the video game console above his head when a cat lunged toward his head and began scratching.

"Y'all, this is what pure joy looks like," she wrote. Also terror. Merry Christmas!

Freeman shared photos of the man's wounds which she said required a trip to the doctor for stitches, but they enjoyed laughing at the bizarre situation.

The video quickly went viral, gathering hundreds of thousands of comments, including several claiming the animal was provoked or mistreated.

Freeman responded to the comments by saying the cat comes from a good home and describing the pet as "spoiled" and a jerk.

"He wasn't 'provoked.' A grown up was acting overly excited as a joke and the cat walked across the room then back. He wasn't 'startled,'" she wrote. You can clearly see him walk up and calmly sit while planning his attack. Also, this is not my cat. No reason for me to lie.

Despite the cat's reputation as a "jerk," Freeman shared photos of herself with the man and the cat with the PS4 to show that everyone was living together in harmony after the incident.

7. Jilted woman uses Cowboys tickets she bought for ex-fiance's Christmas present

DALLAS, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- A Texas woman is gaining viral attention after she used her ex-fiance's Christmas gift -- tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game -- and detailed their breakup with a sign.

Austin resident Brenna Canton's revenge on her ex went viral after she was photographed at Monday night's game between the Cowboys and the Detroit Lions holding a sign explaining that her tickets had been intended as a gift for her fiance before he broke up with her via text message.

Clanton told the Dallas Morning News the late-October text message, which came only four months after they became engaged, claimed the couple had "nothing in common."

"That threw me for a loop," she said.

Clanton said the couple did share one big thing in common -- they are both huge Cowboys fans. She said she bought tickets to Monday night's game as a birthday gift for her fiance only one week before he sent the now-infamous text message.

Clanton attended Monday night's game holding a homemade sign reading, "My fiance dumped me in a text message. He should have waited until after Christmas. #NothingInCommon #Ghosting #ESPN #MNF"

"I decided to have some fun with it, this was my little get-back to him," she said. "I thought this might show up on the jumbotron or TV broadcast and I knew [my ex] would be watching the game."

The sign went viral after it was photographed by Alex McDaniel, an editor for the Oxford Eagle, and posted to Twitter.

Clanton was given another reason to celebrate when the Cowboys beat the Lions 42-21.

From Phoenix comes a story of good will this Christmas season. It's a story about a woman with child who had an encounter with God in the most unusual of places.

Sarah Clark has been waiting tables at the Pita Jungle for the past seven years. It's a good job and the customers are more than generous when it comes to tipping.

Sarah is about to give birth and her fiance is recovering from knee surgery -- so money is tight. And Sarah has been putting in as many hours as possible before she goes on maternity leave.

So what happened the other day -- well -- it's just one of those moments that makes Christmas the most wonderful time of year.

Sarah was clearing a table when she noticed the customer had given her a $900 tip on a $61.30 check!

The diners had written a note on the receipt:

"This is God's money - He gave it to us so we could give it to you."

Sarah marveled at such generosity and the tears started flowing as she contemplated her good fortune.

"I couldn't have asked for anything more right now," she told News 12 in Phoenix. "It's going to help with bills, with rent, with being able to stay home and spend more time with my baby."

And when that little baby gets older, Sarah will be able to tell her child about the day she received a Christmas gift from God.
