Janet Jackson keeps it real in message to fans announcing return to tour
Janet Jackson posted a new video to fans Monday night, packing information about weight gain, babies, divorce and an upcoming tour in just under 90 seconds.
The video begins with Jackson bemoaning the fact that it looks like she has bags under her eyes before tossing off, "Oh, well, maybe I do."
If she does have bags, it's for good reason. The legendary singer gave birth to her first child, Eissa Al Mana, on Jan. 3.
"It's me, Jan, just in case you didn't recognize me 'cause I have put on quite a few since I had the baby," she assures fans before lovingly talking about her son.
"I thank God for him, you guys. He's so healthy, so beautiful, so sweet, so loving, such a happy baby," Jackson said.
Before moving on to the crux of her message, Jackson took care of a little personal-life housecleaning in the name of keeping it real.
"Yes, I separated from my husband," Jackson said of her marriage to Wissam Al Mana. "We are in court and the rest is in God's hands."
But, Jackson was pleased to announce, she is resuming her world tour come September.
The tour previously known as "Unbreakable" will now be called "The State of the World," a name that's "not about politics," Jackson said.
"It's about people, the world, relationships and just love."
The tour began in August 2015 before Jackson announced that the January 2016 leg of the tour would need to be postponed due to surgery.
In March 2016, the European leg of the tour was also postponed, and the next month Jackson announced the postponement of the rest of the tour due to "family planning."
In October, Jackson confirmed her pregnancy.
"The State of the World" tour includes 56 shows, including Sept. 23 at Honda Center in Anaheim and Oct. 8 at the Hollywood Bowl. It kicks off in Lafayette, La., on Sept. 7.
Tickets for Jackson's North American tour go on sale Friday.

EXCLUSIVE: Janet Jackson Plans to Bring Baby Eissa on Tour, Will Start 'Rigorously Dieting,' Source Says
Janet Jackson is getting ready for her big comeback.
The 50-year-old singer told fans on Monday about her plans to continue her tour -- formerly known as Unbreakable, the name of her latest album, though she's now decided to call it The State of the World Tour -- after taking a break last year due to her pregnancy. A source close to the Jackson family now tells ET that Jackson is planning to tour with her almost four-month old son, Eissa.
Last month, news broke that Jackson and her estranged husband, Wissam Al Mana, have split.
"She will be in court to flesh out the dissolution of her marriage," the source says. "Touring with baby Eissa could be a possible problem but she's hoping it's not."
The source says her older brother, Randy Jackson, will be with her on tour to help take care of his nephew.
"He's her primary source of emotional support and may be the perfect guardian for her son while she's on tour," the source adds.
According to the source, Jackson is preparing for this to be "her greatest tour ever."
"She'll be coming out full force and unrestricted," the source says. "Janet will begin rigorously dieting. She wants to look her best for herself and her fans."
Jackson joked about her post-baby body in her video message to fans on Monday.
"Hey, you guys, it's me, Jan, just in case you don't recognize me since I have put on quite a few since I had the baby," she said, laughing. "But I thank God for him, he's so healthy, so beautiful, so sweet, so loving, such a happy baby."
Jackson also broke her silence about her split from Al Mana. "Yes, I separated from my husband," she confirmed. "We are in court and the rest is in God's hands."
Still, the "Rhythm Nation" singer said she's excited to resume her tour on Sept. 7, and gave a sweet shout-out to her fans.
"I want to thank you guys for your patience and for all of your support throughout the years," Jackson said. "Thank you so much."
