FBI Most Wanted fugitive arrested in El Paso
A Milwaukee double murder suspect listed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list was arrested in El Paso Sunday morning.
Terry A.D. Strickland, 24, was arrested by El Paso FBI agents and El Paso police officers in connection with the shooting of two men during a fight on July 17 at a home in Milwaukee, officials said. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail.
Strickland did not answer any questions from the El Paso Times as he was being walked into the county jail. It wasn't immediately clear why he was in El Paso, near the Mexican border, but FBI officials planned a news conference for 2 p.m. MT Sunday in El Paso.
When he was added to the most-wanted list last month, Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn said he was accused of having "cold-bloodedly killed" two innocent men, Maurice Brown Jr. and Michael Allen Reed.
Strickland then approached Brown, 38, who had fallen to the ground, and shot him multiple times before turning to Reed, 39, and shooting him in the head, according to authorities.
Strickland fled in a black SUV, abandoning his 18-month-old daughter, who was inside the house, officials said.
Strickland, who is originally from Illinois, was charged with two counts of first degree intentional homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon. An arrest warrant was issued for him on July 28.
A charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was added against Strickland and a federal warrant was then issued for his arrest by the U.S. Eastern District of Wisconsin, officials said.
A $100,000 reward was being offered for any information leading to his arrest. No information has been released on if the reward will be paid out.
Strickland was the 512th fugitive to be placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted list, which was established in 1950.

Strickland was among a group of man arguing in front of a Milwaukee home July 17, authorities said. Witnesses saw him go inside the house, emerge with a gun and fire into the small crowd. Authorities said Strickland shot and killed Maurice Brown Jr., 38, who was on the ground, then turned to Michael Allen Reed, 39, and shot him in the head.
"It was vicious," Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn said when Strickland was added to the FBI's most-wanted list last month. "It was unnecessary. Neither individual posed the slightest threat to Mr. Strickland, but they paid with their lives for occupying the same space."
Brown’s wife told Fox 6 Now she had been praying for an arrest and justice for her new husband. They had been married only a few months before Brown’s killing.
Authorities have said Strickland fled from the shooting in a black SUV, abandoning his 18-month-old daughter inside the house, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
The FBI said agents were led to Strickland after receiving a tip that he may be temporarily living in El Paso. The FBI in El Paso and the El Paso Police Department arrested Strickland early Sunday morning during a traffic stop. He was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities said Strickland was the 512th person to be placed on the Top 10 Most Wanted list and the 480th to be captured. It’s the El Paso bureau’s fourth capture, according to Fox 6 Now.

Terry A.D. Strickland was arrested without incident during a traffic stop in El Paso, Texas, the FBI said.
Strickland was wanted on an arrest warrant from Milwaukee. He is charged with two counts of first degree intentional homicide.
Investigators said Strickland shot two men during a fight on July 17, according to CNN affiliate WITI.
El Paso FBI Special Agent in Charge Doug Lindquist said agents tracked Strickland to Texas after a tip was called in to the public access line.
A $100,000 reward had been offered for information leading to Strickland's arrest, CNN affiliate WDJT reports.
Lindquist said Strickland was added to the Most Wanted list exactly one month before his arrest.
"I am proud of the continuous hard work of our agents and law enforcement partners in quickly apprehending this dangerous and violent fugitive," Lindquist said.
