A 10-YEAR-OLD who has become the world’s fattest child is being put on a crash diet as his parents are afraid he’ll die. Arya Permana weighs 192kg and is categorised as morbidly obese. His rapid weight-gain has forced him to quit school because he can no longer physically walk.

Arya eats five meals a day, consisting of rice, fish, beef, vegetable soup and Tempeh — a traditional soy patty — which is normally enough to feed two adults. Due to his astonishing weight, his parents have been unable to find clothes that fit him, leading to Arya wearing just a sarong. But now his parents are attempting to cut his diet — for fear he might die. His mother Rokayah Somantri said: “My son is growing up at a rapid rate and I am worried for his health.

2. Boy of three who weighs 10 STONE is banned from nursery for being a 'health hazard' - World's Fattest Toddler (140 lbs)

This Chinese boy tips the scales at a massive ten stone - five times the average weight of the three-year-olds in his class. Such is the concern over his size that Xiao Hao was banned from several pre-schools because staff believed his size posed a risk to classmates. He has now found a nursery in Guangzhou, southern China, which is happy to accommodate him but his mother Xiao Lin has asked doctors to help him lose weight. 'He means no harm he is just big and likes to play. I take him swimming for exercise but it is hard finding trunks to fit him and even the rubber rings are too small,' she said.

Medical staff believe he may have ballooned to the weight of a small adult as the result of a growth hormone disorder. Others say he is a victim of China's 'Little Emperor' syndrome where the families are allowed only one child - who is then spoiled rotten by doting relatives. 'He is not just overweight but very tall as well so we may be able to treat him if it really is hormonal.  'But he cannot remain like this or his heart will never stand the strain,' said Dr Lu Hong from the Guangdong childen's hospital.

A video about Aliya and her family’s ordeal received more than 21 million views on YouTube channel Barcroft TV.

But her mother Shabnam Parveen and father Mohammad Saleem, who live in Jharkhand, in the Indian district of Ranchi, were left baffled by what was causing their daughter's insatiable appetite. Now a paediatrician at the nearby Orchid Medical Centre has formulated a number of theories about what could be behind Aliya's ever-expanding waistline. Dr Bhavya Kumar has examined Aliya and believes she could be suffering from Prader-Willi syndrome - a rare disorder characterised by learning difficulties, growth abnormalities, and obsessive eating.

Both her parents were obese and an investigation into her diet revealed that she had been fed foods which were high in fat and sugar.

Type 2 diabetes, in which the body gradually loses its ability to produce insulin and tolerate high glucose levels, used to be called ‘mature onset’ diabetes because it was associated with the middle-aged and elderly, but in the past 15 years it has been seen in children.

At first I thought maybe the scale was broken." After the couple saw the size of their newborn, they were forced to go and buy six-to-nine months clothes for their son. Edmond said: “He [now] weighs 17lbs and seven ounces. He sleeps a lot more than our other babies did, but he's healthy. "When he's awake, he's alert and smiles. He's a happy boy."

A young obese boy who weighs 23 stone has been set on fire in a bizarre bid to lose weight. Li Hang, 11, is said to be undergoing the traditional Chinese medicine treatment after his weight ballooned while suffering a rare condition from the age of three. Photographs of the treatment show the youngster screaming in terror as a doctor lights up towels on top of his bare bulging tummy.

It is being carried out on the boy at Changchun Kangda Hospita, Changchun city, in the northeastern Chinese province of Jilin. Specialising in slimming treatments, Changchun Kangda Hospital employs various Chinese medicine practices including Baguan (fire cupping), fire therapy and acupuncture to treat their patients, of which seven out of its 53 overweight patients are children.

A three-year-old boy has piled on six stone because of a rare side effect of brain cancer treatment. His parents strictly control his diet but Freddie's brain keeps on telling his body to store more food after a cancer-beating operation saw a tumour the size of a fist reduced by a staggering 90%. The NHS refused to fund his operation due to the high risk of brain damage. Heartbroken, his parents David and Abi turned to the Phoenix Children's Hospital in Arizona, US and, with the help of surgery and proton beam therapy, most of the tumour was removed.
