Monopoly game-changer! Here is the new set of tokens
The people have spoken!
After a worldwide vote as part of Monopoly Token Madness, which allowed people to vote among 64 classic and new tokens, the popular rent-based board game will feature an all-new line-up.
The new selection of eight will feature some perennial favorites (the Scottie dog, top hat, car, and battleship), as well as the cat, which replaced the iron in 2013. The three completely new additions are... (drumroll, please)... the T-Rex, rubber ducky, and penguin.
In other words, we've all been spared those emoji tokens. Phew!
Still, this also means some of the more classic play pieces like the boot, wheelbarrow, or thimble did not garner enough votes to stay in the box, with the latter actually being the first piece voted out of the competition, and will go to jail, directly to jail, without passing Go ever again.
Don't fret if your fave isn't included in this list as Hasbro won't be making changes to the game until August, when newer editions of the board game will be sold featuring the eight new pieces. Until then, fans are welcome to pass Go and celebrate World Monopoly Day on Sunday, March 19.

Times are changing on the Monopoly board.
Hasbro announced Friday that the popular board game’s playing pieces are getting a revamp, with the thimble, the wheelbarrow and the boot getting the boot in favor of some more fan-friendly options.
The new lineup for the game includes a rubber ducky, a penguin and a T-Rex, joining old favorites the Scottie dog, the top hat, a race car and a battleship as well as the recently added cat, which was swapped in for the iron after a similar fan vote in 2013.
The most recent online poll -- held in January -- drew more than 4.3 million votes from 146 countries. Fans picked from more than 64 potential tokens, including a bunny slipper, a television and a number of emojis.
The new lineup was unveiled just ahead of World Monopoly Day, which is officially recognized on March 19.

Everyone has their favorite Monopoly token, but those who tend to reach for the wheelbarrow, thimble or boot token may have to pick a new favorite game-piece.
The thimble, boot and wheelbarrow will be replaced by T-Rex, rubber ducky and penguin tokens this fall. The iconic game pieces met their fate after millions of fans voted on which eight tokens they’d like to see in the next version of the game during Monopoly Token Madness Vote in January, Hasbro said in a statement.
So, who made the cut? The Scottie dog, top hat, car, battleship, cat, T-Rex, rubber ducky, and penguin tokens, are the eight game pieces that will be featured in the next generation of the game.
In mid-February, fans learned the thimble’s days were numbered, but the game maker waited until two days before Sunday’s World Monopoly Day to reveal that two other iconic pieces were also getting the axe.
“The next generation of tokens clearly represents the interests of our fans around the world, and we’re proud to have our iconic game impacted by the people that feel most passionate about playing it,” Jonathan Berkowitz, senior vice president of marketing for Hasbro Gaming said in a statement.
The last time a token was dropped and a new one was added was in 2013. The oh-so-exciting iron was dropped in favor of a cat token. The Scottie dog was added in 1950.
