Mel B alleges years of abuse from estranged husband

Former Spice Girl Mel B has filed a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, claiming years of abuse.

According to documents obtained by TMZ and People, the America's Got Talent and X Factor judge (real name: Melanie Brown), has accused her husband, Stephen Belafonte, of beating and threatening her throughout their 10-year marriage.

Belafonte, 41, is a "large, extremely aggressive, hostile and violent individual" who subjected her to "multiple physical beatings" throughout their relationship, Brown, 41, wrote in her filing.

Brown was granted the restraining order, and Belafonte was ordered to leave the family’s Los Angeles home and to stay away from Brown and her three children, Phoenix, 18, Angel, 10, and Madison, 5.

Incidents of alleged abuse include:

-Following her Dancing with the Stars finale in November 2007, Belafonte allegedly choked and slammed Brown against the floor while she prepared for a TV appearance.

-In July 2012, Brown says her ex accused her of flirting with Usher while she taped a segment for X Factor. Brown claims Belafonte flew into a rage, punching her in the face with a closed fist and splitting her lip.

-In August 2012, Brown says Belafonte punched and pushed her down after she performed with the Spice Girls at the London Olympics closing ceremonies. Brown says Belafonte then forced her to tweet out she injured herself running in 7-inch Christian Louboutins.

Brown says Belafonte would abuse her in retaliation for her success. "When something good would happen for me, he would beat me down to let me know he was in charge," she writes in her declaration.

Other allegations: The pop star says her ex forced her to participate in threesomes and threatened to release videos of the acts to ruin her career.

Brown also claims that Belafonte impregnated their nanny and told Brown that he wanted the woman to keep the baby and “all three of us live together.” She says Belafonte ultimately forced the woman to get an abortion and used Brown's money to pay the fees.

Over the course of their relationship, Brown says Belafonte has "taken millions of dollars" from her.

News of the restraining order comes just weeks after Brown filed for divorce from Belafonte, requesting joint legal and physical custody of their daughter, Madison. (Elder children Angel and Phoenix are from her relationships with exes Eddie Murphy and Jimmy Gulzar.)

In her filing, Brown says she met Belafonte just two months after giving birth to her second child. "At the time I was vulnerable...as a single mother, my self-esteem was very low," she says. The couple married in June 2007 in Las Vegas after a short courtship.

Immediately after their marriage, Brown says, Belafonte "became emotionally and verbally abusive. He would tell me I was worthless...he would demean my appearance by telling me I was fat, ugly and old."

A final straw came when her father was dying of cancer. Brown says she believes Belafonte took her passport "so as to intentionally delay my travel such that I would not see my father prior to his death."

Mel B claims 'monster' husband Stephen Belafonte 'got the nanny PREGNANT, forced her to have threesomes with random women and threatened to release sex tapes' as she obtains restraining order against him

Mel B has obtained a restraining order application against estranged husband Stephen Belafonte, alleging he beat her, got their nanny pregnant and extorted her to take part in threesomes throughout their ten year marriage.

The 41-year-old former Spice Girl made a string of explosive and disturbing claims in her court declaration which forces Stephen to stay away from her and her three children.

The catalogue of historic allegations of abuse listed by TMZ include Belafonte 'punching' and 'choking' Mel, 'splitting her lip' and 'pushing her down on a carpet'.

The former Spice Girl suggests that during their marriage, she was coerced into trysts that he secretly record and later used as ammunition against her, threatening to release as sex tapes 'if she tried to resist the threesomes'.

There is also the explosive revelation that Stephen got their nanny pregnant and even suggested 'all three [of them] live together' with the new baby.

The nanny was paid allegedly 'paid $300,000' to have an abortion, according to the filing.

Belafonte is also alleged to have shown his wife little sympathy as her beloved father Martin lost his battle with cancer.

TMZ claim the film producer allegedly told her to 'Suck it up. If he's going to die, he's going to die.'
The U.S website also repeats claims that things turned violent in the marriage, despite previous denials from both camps.

In one incident, the papers allege: 'Stephen placed both of his hands around her neck, began choking her and slammed her down onto the hardwood floors' while she was preparing for U.S. talent show Dancing With The Stars.
It is claimed that although some friends and family members had asked Mel about her injuries and offered to call the police on her behalf, she begged them not to as she feared for her own life and theirs if Belafonte were to find out.

In the documents, Mel alleges that the abuse became part of a 'pattern'. When she became successful, Stephen 'would beat me down to let me know he was in charge.'

She also alleges Belafonte 'punched her and split her lip' after becoming jealous while she filmed a segment with Usher for the X Factor back in 2012.

After asking her husband how she could appear on television with the obvious injury, Belafonte allegedly told her 'she should have thought of that before deciding to flirt with and f*** Usher.'

Furthermore, Belafonte 'punched' Mel and 'pushed her down on a carpet' the day before she and the Spice Girls performed at the Olympic closing ceremony.

Mel claims her injuries were so severe her skin was burned from the carpet, adding that she was then forced by her estranged husband to 'tweet that she injured herself by running in heels.'

So 'overcome with emotional and physical exhaustion,' an embattled Mel reveals she overdosed on a bottle of Aspirin back in 2014.

Disturbingly, Belafonte allegedly stopped her from calling the emergency services, with Mel stating he locked her in the bedroom and told her to 'die b***h.'

Mel says she previously tried to leave Belafonte several times, but claims 'he threatened me with violence and threatened to destroy my life in every possible way... destroy my career and take my kids from me,' she
However the singer claims Belafonte was supportive and 'rushed to help her in every way' in the months following their marriage.

But she admits to being 'emotionally weak' as her engagement and subsequent wedding took place shortly after the birth of second daughter Angel, conceived during a brief relationship with Hollywood star Eddie Murphy.

'At the time, I was vulnerable. I was giving birth as a single mother, my self-esteem was very low, and my hormones were out of balance due to the pregnancy,' she claims.

The singer also alleges that Belafonte repeatedly told her she was "worthless, that he made me 'who I am."

She also alleges in the court documents that Belafonte has 'taken millions of dollars' from her during the marriage, withdrawing money from their joint account to pay child support for a child from a previous relationship and for business investments.

TMZ claim the singer lowered the asking price on their family home, two weeks after putting it on the market for $8.995 million.

The Hollywood Hills home was reportedly put up for sale March 22, however the price was dropped to $7.995 million shortly after her separation from Belafonte was confirmed.

Meanwhile, days after his home was searched for firearms, Mel's court filing suggests he does keep a gun at home despite being prohibited from carrying a firearm due to a prior domestic violence conviction.

Stephen denied his estranged wife's claims, telling TMZ on camera: 'I haven't heard these allegations. You know what my comment on this is, as this is the mother of my children? I'm really really distraught my brain how this is going to affect our children (sic), and the depths that she's gone to. That's it. I'm shocked at those allegations and that's what it is.

'I think someone's set me up to look like a bad guy. Obviously you saw my house got raided and nobody found anything. It's accusation after accusation. But we'll have our day in court.

'And we have children. if anyone knows our children, we have beautiful children. They're on social media. Why do this?

'We were friends two weeks ago. And now all of a sudden the team gets around and now it's got to be this.'
The judge also ordered Belafonte to leave the family's Hollywood Hills mansion with TMZ reporting that he packed some of his things up on Monday afternoon.

Along with being a mother to five-year-old Madison with Belafonte, Mel also has daughter Phoenix Chi, 18, by her first husband Jimmy Gulzar and nine-year-old daughter Angel with movie star Eddie Murphy.

The couple's marriage has been subject to increased scrutiny since Mel filed for divorce last month.

Belafonte's brother Jeremiah claimed last week that the couple's 'open and loose relationship' prompted their divorce.

On Sunday, it was claimed they had enjoyed a threesome with Lady Victoria Hervey back in 2007 when they were just married.

A friend of the 40-year-old former 'It girl' alleged that she enjoyed a steamy tryst with the couple.

The friend of the Los Angeles-based aristocrat told The Sun: 'It was all a blur and everyone was very drunk, especially Lady Victoria.

'She told me one minute they were laying in bed watching a movie together, then they got carried away and Stephen was on top of her and Mel was kissing her.

'Next thing she can remember they all woke up naked in bed in the morning.'

Then there was a saucy snap posted by Belafonte last year which showed a man fondling one woman's thigh, while his head rested on another's stomach, beside her hand clad with fake nails and a dazzling ring
Belafonte tagged Mel in the photo -  which was first posted by Kim Kardashian - teasing fans that he and the Spice Girl were involved.

Mel always been candid about her sex life, previously revealing she was involved in a relationship with a woman as a 17-year-old.

She told Attitude back in 2014: 'At 17 you want to experiment. I don't think you should put a name on it. Well actually, I don't care if people put a name on it. I didn't. I had fun!

'I had a great five-year relationship with a lovely lady who I still talk to this day, and that's that. I mean, if it happened yesterday I would probably be saying something different. But I've been happily married to my husband for seven years.

'Do I want to spoon with a woman, and snuggle? No. I want to do that with my husband. At 17 I wanted to spoon and snuggle and do everything with a woman... But not right now.'

Revealing to Grazia magazine that she and Stephen have sex 'five times a day,' Mel said in 2010: 'I have to admit, I'm a nymphomaniac with him. It's sexercise.'

She also previously said that Stephen was her 'soulmate' because they were 'perverts with each other'.

'Well, everybody sees the word pervert as something different, and I don’t want to tell you what my pervert-ness is, or what his is,' she clarified in an interview with The Guardian three years ago, adding that Belafonte was her 'rock.'

'He’s been my rock when nobody else believed in me,' she said. 'The one who’s said, "Go for it, Melanie: go and do Dancing With The Stars, go and do America’s Got Talent, go and release a single if you like." He’s the one who has rebirthed my confidence.'

She also elaborated on her sexuality to shock jock Howard Stern saying: 'People call me lesbian, bisexual or heterosexual, but I know who's in my bed and that's it... I have a huge libido and a great sex life.'

The star has also been the subject of a couple of kiss and tells - back in 2014, former Playboy model Luann Lee claimed Mel followed her into a disabled lavatory, started taking her clothes off and spent an hour in there kissing her.

Speaking to The Sun, the centrefold also said that Belafonte was waiting outside the whole time.

Luann, who met Mel in hotel bar when she was starring in the The Peep Show at the Planet Hollywood Hotel, said: ‘It was very passionate and sensual. She’s like a man in that way — very assertive, very determined and very wanting. I can see why they call her Scary Spice.’

Mel was also forced to deny a 2010 story that they had enjoyed a threesome with a stripper in Australia.

As recently asthis February, Mel praised her 'baby boo' Stephen in a social media dedication, telling him: 'You are my world honey and let's not forget you are a bit of a d**khead too'

The couple seemed blissfully happy when they renewed their wedding vows with a lavish ceremony in front of their families in November 2008 in Hurghada, Egypt.

This was around the time that Mel fell out with her mother Andrea, who openly expressed concern about Stephen's violent past.

In 2014, cracks began to emerge when the couple was hit with rumours of violent rows with Belafonte accused of physically abusing Mel after she appeared on The X Factor UK with bruises and scratches on her face and arms.
It was reported at the time that Mel had left Belafonte before she was rushed to hospital with stomach pains, which caused her to miss the first live show, during The X Factor final weekend in 2014.

The X Factor judge returned for the last show on December 14, 2014 with a bruised and scratched appearance, sparking worry among fans.

But Belafonte vehemently denied all suggestions of domestic abuse and the couple appeared to patch things up.

Throughout their marriage Mel has defended her husband's past.

She jumped to his defence when it emerged that he had battered his common-law wife Nicole during a drunken row at their home in 2003.

The film producer attacked the mother of his daughter Giselle, now 13, in what was described as a 'malicious and unlawful' drunken frenzy.

He did not contest the charge, which the judge said was the same as a guilty plea, and said: 'This happened crazily, one drunk, retarded night.'

He was also accused of vandalising Nicole's phone by spitting into it but this was dropped.

She told Hello! magazine: 'They're trying to make him out to be this aggressive, violent, woman batterer and he's not.

'If you read those police reports, they never say he physically beat up a woman.'

Later Belafonte said he did not realise that he had admitted battering his ex-partner, saying that the admission came at a moment when he was 'confused and stressed'. But this plea was rejected.

While partying with Mel in 2010, Belafonte was involved in a fight with three men at the luxury five star MayFair Hotel.

One man was left needing hospital treatment following the incident.

But Mel stood by her burly husband, claiming he was only acting in her defence.

In 2007 Belafonte admitted killing a mallard with a brick outside his house in the state of New Jersey, but fled to Los Angeles without paying the £300 court fine

Later he told OK magazine: 'Oh, yes, apparently I killed a duck.'

'But I haven't. Sure I got into fights and I did get drunk but I learned from it and I don't do it now.'

In 2014 Belafonte's brother Jeremiah Stansbury blasted the producer as 'violent' and 'ruthless' and urged Mel to leave him.

And he claimed the couple have no prenuptial agreement and are obsessed with porn and sex, alleging that Belafonte showed off their huge range of sex toys.

Belafonte denied his brother's claims to The Sun newspaper.

Stansbury also recently alleged that Belafonte reportedly attacked the former Spice Girl's pet Labrador in 2008.
He claimed to The Sun: 'I saw him punch Lord in the ribs full force with all of his strength. The dog collapsed and had no breath and was crying. He was standing there laughing. '

Former Spice Girl Mel B claims estranged husband Stephen Belafonte brutally abused her, got the nanny pregnant

Spice Girl Mel B claims her estranged husband punched, choked, berated and sexually exploited her — and got their nanny pregnant.

The former girl band member who was known as Scary Spice, whose real name is Melanie Brown, detailed the alleged abuse in a bombshell court filing that won her a temporary restraining order Monday against Stephen Belafonte.

She said Belafonte's brutal attacks often coincided with her career success, such as her finale on "Dancing with the Stars" and her judging work on the UK and Australian versions of "X Factor."

Brown, 41, said it was shortly after she placed runner-up on the fifth season of "DWTS" in November 2007 that Belafonte — her husband of only five months at that point — pounced on her minutes before a live television interview.

"He was in a rage and I had no idea why," she wrote in her statement. "He placed both of his hands around my neck and began choking me. He then slammed me down onto the hardwood floor."

She said Belafonte punched her with a closed fist in July 2012, causing her lip to split and swell, after she and recording artist Usher taped a promotional segment in New York for the Australian version of "X Factor."

She said Belafonte accused her of triggering his furor by flirting with Usher and threatened to release sex tapes if she reported him.

"He told me that no one would believe me because everyone thinks I'm crazy. He called me a 'f---ing monkey,' told me I was dumb and said that I was a 'derelict,'" she wrote.

Brown covered for the abuse by telling producers she had an allergic reaction to shellfish, she said.

The violence continued to escalate, she claimed, with Belafonte allegedly punching her in the face with a closed fist and pushing her facedown on a carpet after she performed with the Spice Girls at the London Olympics in August 2012.

"My face actually scabbed over the rug burns," she wrote. "Because the injuries were so obvious, and because the media had snapped pictures of me with the facial injury, (Belafonte) forced me to 'tweet' out that I injured myself by running in 7-inch Christian Louboutin heels," she wrote.

She said Belafonte's "mind games" and violence became so overwhelming she attempted suicide in December 2014.

"In a moment of emotional and physical exhaustion, I took an entire bottle of aspirin," she said. "I immediately regretted the action and tried to call 999 (England's version of 911), and (Belafonte) blocked me from calling for help."

She said he locked her in a bedroom without a phone and told her to "die bitch!"

"Each time I could pry the door open and try to squeeze out, (Belafonte) would slam the door on my head," she claimed. "I kept telling him that I wanted to get my stomach pumped and I begged him to let me out."

Brown said she initially fell for Belafonte during a vulnerable period when she was pregnant with her second child but no longer with the baby's father.

"I was giving birth as a single mother, my self-esteem was very low and my hormones were out of balance due to the pregnancy," she wrote.

She said Belafonte recognized her weakness and used kindness as his way of "grooming" her for marriage.

Brown said he later hired a "quite beautiful" 20-year-old exchange student from a small town in Germany as their nanny and began sleeping with the young woman.

In the Spring of 2014, Belafonte told Brown the nanny was pregnant with his child and he wanted to have the baby with everyone living under the same roof, Brown wrote.

"I was shocked and in disbelief," she said. "(Belafonte) later demanded that Lorraine have an abortion."

She said he paid the young woman $300,000 for three years of nanny services without her consent.

Brown further claimed Belafonte "demanded" that she join in sex acts with "random women" he brought back to their hotel rooms.

"If I objected to participating, he would threaten to release compromising videos of me," she wrote.

Attempts to reach Belafonte were not immediately successful Tuesday.

In an interview with TMZ.com, he claimed he was hearing the accusations for the first time and was "distraught" and worried about how they might affect their daughters.

Brown has two daughters from previous relationships and a 5-year-old daughter named Madison with Belafonte.

Brown said she finally worked up the courage to divorce Belafonte after traveling back to London to see her sick father shortly before his death.

She claimed Belafonte almost caused her to miss the last days she spent with her ailing dad because he allegedly swiped her passport.

Under the protective order, Belafonte must stay at least 100 yards away from Brown and move out of the couple's house in the Hollywood Hills.

Brown was granted custody of the couple's daughter with Belafonte getting no visitation until a follow-up hearing.

The court denied a request by Brown to travel outside the U.S. with the 5-year-old girl.

Brown said she's worried Belafonte might seek retribution after law enforcement served him with a search warrant Friday but failed to locate a gun at the family's residence.

Belafonte is not allowed to have a gun due to a prior domestic violence conviction but he allegedly kept one in a lock box in the bedroom closet, Brown's filing stated.

"I fear that with (Belafonte's) character trait for violence, my prior physical beatings by him, his willingness to violate both federal and state laws by possessing a handgun — he knows no bounds," she wrote. "I believe he is extremely dangerous."
