Overwatch: Sombra and Zarya Both Have Legendary Skins in Production
While the Overwatch: Insurrection event is about to kick off, we've also got some exciting news for Sombra and Zarya mains: you all aren't being left out of the upcoming skin release hype. Both Sombra and Zarya are confirmed to receive Legendary skins this year - with the latter on the hook for two.
Jeff Kaplan played coy about the situation, calling everything awesome as usual:
"Zarya has two skins in production. One is awesome. The other is beyond awesome."
Sombra has yet to receive a new Legendary skin since her release, while Zarya last received Legendary skins during last year's Summer Games event, where she received two. Kaplan also confirmed that Hanzo is set to receive three "amazing" legendary skins in the coming months.
The regular release of cosmetic content is integral to the health of Overwatch, as it keeps casual players grinding for loot boxes, and keeps revenue coming in from players who don't want to grind and want to buy loot boxes instead. The latter seems to be working well for Overwatch, as it has consistently been in the top 10 grossing games by digital revenue since its release. It helps that Overwatch also has (over) 25 million players, easily keeping it in contention if even a portion of the population spends money on microtransactions like loot boxes.
Overwatch's latest event, Overwatch: Insurrection, will feature over 100 collectibles and is kicking off later today - though we already have a fair idea of what we'll be seeing thanks to several leaks. Overwatch’s newest event, Uprising, goes live
Overwatch’s newest seasonal event, Uprising, kicks off today on the PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One versions of the game. Uprising takes the cast of Overwatch back in time and gives players a chance to relive a “pivotal moment” in the game’s history.
The event includes a new cooperative brawl, called Uprising, in which Tracer and her Overwatch compatriots battle waves of Omnic extremists — dubbed Null Sector — in a modified version of King’s Row. Uprising will be playable in two forms: one in which players play as either Tracer, Reinhardt, Mercy or Torbjörn, and one in which players can choose from Overwatch’s entire 24-character roster.
In addition to the new brawl, the latest seasonal event also includes more than 100 cosmetic items that can be earned from loot boxes. For a peek at the new skins, emotes, highlight intros, sprays and more, check out the gallery below.
In a developer update video, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan said the team created Uprising in response to player feedback — namely that players were looking for more non-real world holiday-themed events and more player-versus-AI game types, after positive response to Halloween Terror’s cooperative mode, Junkenstein’s Revenge.
Overwatch Uprising will be playable through May 2.

Overwatch’s latest event takes us back to simpler times: when robots tried to take over London. Ah, the good ol’ days.
The event is called Uprising, and it adds a new co-op brawl (think: the Junkenstein’s Revenge Halloween event) about Tracer’s first mission. Here’s Blizzard’s description of the brawl:
“Journey seven years into the past and join a group of Overwatch agents fighting through the streets of King’s Row to quell an uprising led by Null Sector, a rogue group of omnics. Team up with your friends and play as Tracer, Torbjörn, Reinhardt, or Mercy to defeat the robots and liberate the city. There are no reinforcements. Failure is not an option. The future depends on you.”
Jeff From The Overwatch Team added that there’s a second version of the brawl in which you can play as any hero you want. “We heard after the Junkenstein event that a lot of people wanted to play with any hero they wanted,” he said. “So we’re giving you sort of two versions: the intended version, but also the super fun play-whoever-you-want version.”
The event also adds over 100 new cosmetic items. These include classic Overwatch uniform skins, as well as Hotwatc— I mean Blackwatch Genji.
